The Financial Counselor will review, verify and update patient accounts as received to ensure payment for services.  Responsible for collecting deposits and obtaining signatures as necessary for self pay and insurance deductibles/co-pays.  Will conduct interviews and take appropriate actions to ensure finalization of case, PA MA, Charity Care, etc.  Maintains documentation of actions taken on each file.  Reports problem cases to Supervisor with suggested actions.  Maintains files in an orderly manner, file new cases, pull daily discharges, etc.

Minimum Requirements:
The qualified candidate must have a High School diploma or equivalent; an Associates degree in Healthcare is preferred. Two of more years experience in healthcare environment involving financial counseling is required.  Must have knowledge of insurance verification process including patient screening, State Medicaid application requirements, benefit verification and precertification/referral management and billing & collection.  Must have customer service experience and basic computer knowledge and skills.
